The stunning Hakea Laurina / Pincushion Hakea – returns to share her beauty further. Native to south-western Australia, this evergreen large shrub to small tree with long curved blue-green foliage, is much admired for its stunning pink-red and cream pincushion-style flowers.
Bright, sturdy globular flower-heads can be up to 5 cm across making a striking addition to cut-flower arrangements. Attractive to nectar-eating birds, butterflies and other insects.
A shrub that’s easy to grow in most well-drained soil types, it can be grown in part shade but best full sun. Budding genrally starts late summer, with flowers opening from late autumn through winter.
